Our community is changing and evolving and our county board needs to reflect how our district looks today. My name is Bethany Cox. I am a Stillwater resident and a mom of two elementary aged children. It's my responsibility to do all I can to gain a seat at the table, to protect the most vulnerable in our community.
Not everyone has the desire or capacity to hold an elected office. Many families are working multiple jobs just to keep food on the table and their kids in well fitting shoes. I grew up in a family with those same struggles. For all the voices that are not at the Tuesday morning board meetings, I will be there representing you and bringing your voice to the table as your commissioner.
Clean water
Everyone in our county should be able to turn on the tap and drink safe, clean water - whether you are mixing formula or making coffee
The St. Croix River provides incredible recreation opportunities for us today and with proper stewardship this will continue for generations to come
Housing accessibility
Whether you are expanding your home or it’s time to downsize, it’s important that Washington County residents are able to find their next home here in our county
Ensuring our children can find housing in our county when it’s time for their first home and making sure grandma can age safely in her home
Public transportation
Building on the momentum of the county’s connection to St. Paul through the Gold Line bus rapid transit system opening spring 2025, let’s talk about north south connector transportation
Hand in hand with housing, public transportation ensures that our aging family members can maintain their independence and we can reduce our dependence on owning a car
Financial sustainability
Washington County has the second lowest property tax rate in the seven county metro area - with this revenue source making up 36% of the county’s entire budget
I fully understand the importance of maintaining strong open relationships with our elected officials at the state level who represent our interests to keep our property taxes low
Community Focus
As a wife, mother, daughter, and working professional in Washington County, Bethany is included in conversations at the elementary schools all the way through aging family. She is committed to service as a Stillwater Sunrise Rotarian, having served on Stillwater’s Library Board, to now holding a voting seat on Planning Commission. Bethany is dedicated to serving the community bringing all voices to the county.
